Tour: The Crossing US 2019
01/24/19 Alejandro Escovedo Band With Don Antonio Fall River, MA Narrows Center for the Arts United States
Time: 7:00pm. Admission: $32-$37. Age restrictions: All Ages. 7p show “Excellent. Think Townes Van Zandt and Iggy Pop teaming up for a film noir soundtrack” – BILLBOARD “Scorching” – ROLLING STONE “The Crossing is possibly Escovedo’s finest recorded work yet ” – NPR “Reflective, passionate and defiant, like Escovedo himself” – WASHINGTON POST “In 2018, there may be no artist more important to the genre than Alejandro Escovedo” – NO DEPRESSION Crossing borders, jumping barriers, taking risks, betting it all: that’s the path Alejandro Escovedo has been taking in his lifelong search for the heart of rock and roll. Alejandro’s new album, The Crossing (YepRoc Records, September 14) is about that journey: searching, but not necessarily finding, eyes and ears open all the way. It is his first for Yep Roc Records and his first ever recorded in Europe. “This says more about me than any of my records without it being a record about me,” Alejandro says. The Crossing tells the tale of two boys, one from Mexico, one from Italy, who meet in Texas to chase their American rock and roll dreams. They discover a not-so-welcoming, very different place from the Promised Land they imagined, with cameos from the likes of Wayne Kramer of the MC5, Joe Ely and James Williamson of the Stooges to show the boys the way. 01/26/19 Alejandro Escovedo Band With Don Antonio Fairfield, CT FTC Stage One United States
Time: 7:45pm. Admission: $48. Age restrictions: All Ages. Doors 7p – About the new record, The Crossing: “A spectacular, sprawling piece of beautiful art. In 2018, there may be no artist more important to the genre than Alejandro Escovedo” – No Depression Here’s the deal folks: if you like Springsteen, Tom Petty or any other legendary rock stars of that ilk and are not listening to Alejandro, you better get started. You’ll thank us, we promise. Few folks this side of Neil Young or Gram Parsons are cited as often as he is when it comes to artists vital to the melding of rock and twang. An Americana Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Escovedo has been and continues to be a critically influential figure in modern American rock and roots music. As Rolling Stone puts it, “To call Alejandro Escovedo the godfather of modern country rock would sell him short.” Related post. Buy Tickets
