Alejandro Escovedo Readies “Street Songs of Love”

With a new album titled “Street Songs of Love” just a couple weeks away, Alejandro Escovedo has plotted a summer course throughout North America and parts of Europe.

The Texas-based musician will make a couple of New York stops beginning tonight (6/8) before heading across the pond for four English concerts, after which he’ll return to the US for a three-night record-release party that begins June 29 at New York City’s City Winery.

In all, Escovedo will visit clubs and theaters in 17 North American cities through an Aug. 29 show in St. Louis.

“Street Songs of Love,” the follow-up to Escovedo’s 2008 release, “Real Animal,” will hit retailers June 29. Produced by Tony Visconti, the album features the Escovedo’s backing band, The Sensitive Boys, as well as special guests Bruce Springsteen and Ian Hunter.

Last month, Escovedo performed his third Austin City Limits taping. He first appeared on the legendary public-television program in 1983 as a member of post-punk act Rank & File.
